Architecturally designed renovations and extensions for a more liveable and inviting home
Attention to detail is key when it comes to home extension and renovation designs.
In the renovation pictured the entry to the home was a dark hallway with just one entrance to the kitchen. The kitchen was isolated both from the outdoors and the dining room. Only one person could be in the kitchen at a time and the entertaining options were limited. The clients were keen to connect the indoors to their beloved tropical garden as well as add a touch of class.
To open up the space walls were removed to create a combined kitchen and dining area. This created a large working and social space. A long and wide kitchen bench provided space for prep, service and entertaining all in one location.
Large sliding doors were added to link the indoor and outdoor spaces and offer more light with the sink being positioned with a great view of the garden – washing up is no longer a chore! Clean lines and white were tempered with soft black cabinets and a glass splashback that reflects the garden.
Older homes or villas will potentially need some structural building work done like this one did to add on to or reconfigure the existing space. A key part of the Studio You process is the architectural drawings and feasibility studies to ensure a design will meet local resource consent and council planning requirements.
